The amount Apple paid Chinese firm Proview Technology to end a protracted legal dispute over the iPad trademark in China.



Singapore’s ranking in 2012’s Global Innovation Index, which was released July 4. The city-state also retained its position as Asia’s most innovative country for the second year running.


The number of levels in a recently released, controversial video game for Chinese iPad users titled “Protect the Diaoyu Islands” in which players  defend China’s “territory” from Japanese attack in the disputed Diaoyu/Senkaku island chain.


The number of Japanese lawmakers that defected on Monday over a controversial plan to double the country’s sale tax. The defection reduces the ruling party’s numbers but sit will still retain its majority in the lower house of parliament.

The cost of India’s newly funded policy to provide free generic drugs to people. The move is expected to significantly expand access to medicine in the country but also hurt big pharmaceutical companies.


The percentage of women in senior jobs in Asia, according to a new report by McKinsey & Company. The report said the percentage was “strikingly low” compared to that for the United States (15%) and Europe (17%).
